Menraq Patrol Unit
The Word Menraq Means ‘People’ in the Jahai Language
Together with the Perak State Parks Corporation (PSPC), Rimau has developed and activated a community-based wildlife protection patrol unit called Menraq. This unit is a specialised wildlife patrol outfit that is made up entirely of the local indigenous Jahai community.
Community-Based Conservation
The creation of Menraq is to nurture a sense of ownership in wildlife conservation amongst the local Jahai living in Royal Belum State Park. This community patrolling project will not only raise their awareness on the plight of the Malayan tiger and its habitat but also provide an alternative livelihood to the members and their village as a whole.
Community Support is Crucial for Successful Conservation Efforts in the Long Term
Financial Contributions
For each day a Menraq member goes patrolling, RM 10 will be given to their village’s community fund. Help us make a difference in their lives and save tigers.
