Brief info

Kamal Solhaimi Fadzil is a senior lecturer with the Department of Anthropology and Sociology, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University Malaya. He has been with the Department for over 23 years and is currently the Head of Department. Kamal’s area of research covers issues related to partnership, governance, and accessibility. He focuses on the Orang Asli communities living in protected areas, on children without documentation and access to formal education, adolescent sexuality and HIV risk, as well as on stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS. He also engages in the role as a public anthropologist engaging in the public discourse on Indigenous communities and customary rights as well as in Indigenous participation in conservation.
